Meet the Team
Clare Humphreys
(BA Hons)

Hi, I am Clare, and the Manager.

I became involved with Horsted Keynes preschool, first by attending myself in 1978, (I have lived in the village all of my life) then as a parent, a committee member and finally as an employee in 2004.
I have been Manager of Horsted Keynes Preschool since September 2016 and a registered child-minder since 1998.
I take pride and enjoyment from being involved in and observing how children learn and develop. I feel passionate about creating a secure, engaging and above all, safe environment and encourage children to have a healthy interest and understanding of the world around them.
I hold a BA (Hons) in Early Childhood Studies (Level 6), an NNEB, Level 5 Diploma in Early Years Management and have continued to develop my knowledge of childcare through completing several key courses including, H&S Risk Assessment, Positive Behavior in Children and Advanced Food Hygiene level 3.

I am our Designated Safeguarding, Health & Safety Officer and our Fire Safety Officer as well as our Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO).

I live in the Village with my husband and our 3 children. My 2 youngest came to Horsted Keynes Preschool and loved it here, making good friends that they progressed to primary school and secondary school with.
My passion, along with reading and my family is, working at Horsted Keynes Preschool. You will usually find me doing something extremely messy such as playing with melted jelly or sprinkling everything in glitter.
Karen Reed
Hi, I am Karen, and the Deputy Manager.

I joined Horsted Keynes Preschool in 2009 and worked hard to achieve my CACHE LEVEL 2 NVQ in children’s care, learning and development.
I took a year out in 2015 to develop my knowledge and returned in September 2016 when Clare took over as Manager.
I enjoy learning and have completed several key courses including Health and Safety in education, and Food Hygiene level 2.
I live just outside the Village with my 2 children.
Along with baking and my family, I adore working at Horsted Keynes Preschool. Watching the children grow and develop into individuals with their own personalities is fascinating. I am a kind-hearted member of the team who is always thinking of fun new ideas for the children.

I took over as Deputy Manager in September 2023 and am enjoying the extra responsibility and challenges it brings.
Eliza Humphreys

Hi, I am Eliza and I am a Level 3 early years educator.

I have lived in the village all my life and attended Horsted Keynes Preschool where I made lots of friends, many I still have now.

I can usually be found around the craft table getting creative and messy!

In my spare time, I like nothing more than spending time with my family, reading, skateboarding and playing stoolball.

I continue to develop my knowledge of childcare through completing regular courses.
We have all completed several key courses including Paediatric First Aid, An Introduction to Child Protection, Safeguarding Children, Prevent, Food Safety, Health & Safety and all hold an enhanced DBS.
Becky Barnard

I'm Becky, and I'm the work-at-home administrator and Nominated Person.
I have been involved with Preschool for many years, as a parent first, then a committee member, and finally Administrator.

I took an 18 month break from Admin, but stayed as a committee member and now I have returned as Administrator.

My son has long since moved on from Preschool, and is now at secondary school. I am also a school Governor at St. Giles primary, so have lots of experience.

I think the Preschool is a wonderful village facility and am very happy to be able to support Clare and her team in running it efficiently, and keeping it at Outstanding level.
